This is the biggest number of apps added to the Android App store for a given month, since it launched. In December 2009 the number of new apps added were around 3,800. Then in January 2010, these number increased to 5,500.

The challenge for RIM is to appeal to consumers, especially in North America. North Americans expect a faster web experience and easier access to software applications while RIM competes with the rapidly emerging iPhone and Android smartphones platforms.
