Apple is now the world’s largest technology company, after overtaking Microsoft in market capitalization Wednesday (May 26 2010).

The new iPhone OS extends the set of APIs to over 1500. The iPhone SDK 4 provides developers with a broad range of technologies to enhance the functionality of their iPhone and iPod touch applications. Developers can use these new APIs to make their apps more powerful, more feature rich, and more amazing than before. They can even use new GameKit APIs to develop for Game Center, the social gaming network Apple will launch later this year.

First quarter 2010 information from The NPD Group’s Mobile Phone Track reveals a shift in the smartphone market, as Android OS edged out Apple’s OS for the number-two position behind RIM.

Apple has introduced its latest fourth generation iPhone OS. The iPhone 4.0 OS was much awaited and Apple introduced more than 100 features including one high on everyone’s wish list, multithreading (running more than one application at the same time).

teve Jobs announced the iPhone OS 2.0 features scheduled for launching the summer of 2010 (iPhone/iPod touch) and fall 2010 (iPad) launch. Among the new features is multitasking and 100+ new features. The update also adds the mobile advertising platform (“iAd”).

AndroidLib.com reports that around 9,331 new mobile apps were added to the Android Market in March 2010. This is the biggest number of apps added to the Android App store for a given month, since it launched. In December 2009 the number of new apps added were around 3,800. Then in January 2010, these number increased to 5,500.
